Process to claim the Refund of Unclaimed Deposits / Accounts

Reserve Bank of India provides a web portal viz., “UDGAM” for searching the unclaimed deposits/accounts transferred by various banks to DEA Fund maintained with RBI. The objective of this portal is to facilitate citizens to search their Unclaimed deposits / accounts. The portal provides Unclaimed Deposit Reference Number (UDRN) along with the name of the Bank where the unclaimed deposit accounts were maintained.

The process for claiming/activating the Unclaimed Deposit Accounts is given below.

General Instruction:


Submit the following details to the branch officials.

  • Unclaimed Deposit Reference Number (UDRN), which has been obtained from the UDGAM Portal.
  • Documents to establish the Proof of Identity and Address as per the Bank’s KYC Policy.
  • Sufficient supporting documents for verification of the deposit accounts (such as passbook/copy of the statement of account/unutilized cheque leaves/Term Deposit receipts, etc., as the case may be) for substantiating the claim.
  • Duly filled in "Service Request Form" for claim.
  • If the customer wishes to transfer the fund to their accounts with some other bank by NEFT/RTGS, customer has to submit the Bank details (Bank name, account number, IFSC and cancelled cheque leaf with the name of the customer OR Account Statement OR Copy of Passbook) to which the amount is to be credited.


Additional Guidelines


1. If the claim is raised by the account holder:

  • If the customer would like to revive the relationship, it is advised to submit their intention in writing to the branch officials along with the necessary documents for the revival and to carry out the Re-KYC process.


      2.  If the claim is raised by Nominee / Legal Heir:

  • In case of deceased customers, the nominee / legal heir can visit the branch and has to submit the following documents in addition to the documents sited above.
  • Copy of the death certificate of the account holder and
  • Other necessary documents stipulated as per the Death Claim Policy of the Bank.


      3.  For the claim made in non-Individual accounts:

  • For the claim in the non-individual/entity accounts including firms, company, legal persons, trusts etc., the following additional documents also shall be produced by the claimant.
  • Necessary documents to establish proof of legal name, business/activity, existence and proof of address in their letter head to be submitted by their authorized signatories along with the request for claim. The KYC details of the authorized persons are also to be submitted along with.
  • Depending on the customer category, Bank official will provide necessary guidance with respect to the additional documents, if any, to be submitted.


In all the above cases, upon the receipt of the claim request, Branch officials have the right to verify the veracity of the claim and to conduct due diligence.


Mode of Refund

Any one of the following options:

  1. By Cash, if the claim amount is less than Rs.20,000/-only.
  2. By Demand Draft/NEFT/RTGS as per the details provided by the customer.    
  3. By transfer to accounts of Dhanlaxmi Bank (Subject to KYC compliance)
